Marrying & Becoming A Muslim

Marrying & Becoming A Muslim

Hi,

Im currently working in an advertising company here in Doha for a year. And just a month after I joined the company, I met my Habibi.

We are planning to get married as soon as possible. By the way, He is single and a muslim from Syria. And I, I am married with kids, though, I have no more communication with my ex husband since 2008 which is as good as Im having a "Separated" status though legality is the issue.

Since annulment in the Phils. will take more time, money and effort on my side, which I cannot easily do, I am eager to know another option whether I can still marry my Muslim boyfriend.

What are the steps I need to take as early as now.

I would really appreciate your comments and posts here peeps!

thank u in advance.

You can marry him but you need to convert to Muslim first. But make sure that you want to be a Muslim, not just because you want to marry him. Converting religion should not be in purpose, it should because of your Faith not because of a man. Go to Fanar and ask them.

They will divorce your catholic marriage to your husband once you become muslim and get married. I wish you the very best and your happiness.

PS, Our Philippine embassy is not allowing Filipina/Filipino to get married to a foreigner and I believe there's no Syrian Embassy here in Doha. You need to go to Dubai (not sure if they have embassy in Kuwait or Bahrain).

Go to Fanar, enroll and study Islam and seek for their advice.

You are supposed to leave your ex-husband to get married to the syrian habibi...Yes you can revert to islam once you get married to him..:)

And people who have got no knowledge of islam should refrain from commenting over here

because converting should be based on understanding and being convinced that it is good for her.

The best is to ask a scholar and get a good answer.

You can still marry him without converting to Islam.

The court will not object being Christian, you will not be deported. Don't listen to some jealous guys.

There is no use to convert to Islam just for the sake of marriage or some legal or financial benefits, if this is only your aim.

You better try to solve all your legal issues in your country then proceed with your new life.

Wish you all happiness in your new marriage.

in the Phillipines will NOT divorce her from her husband there. Catch 22. Safest bet is to seek an annulment in the Phillipines. Is it expensive--somewhat, does it take long--definitely, but is it possible--yes

I wish your life become better, here is some information which I know:

1. If you become Muslim then the courts here will divorce you from your ex husband who is not Muslim, however you have to check the legal issues with your embassy with good justification.

2. If you become Muslim then all your ex sins or mistakes will be deleted and you will become a new woman with no sins when you convert to Islam, however, you must not make sins because if you make sins then it will be recorded.

Good Luck

I believe there is a lot of bias in the comments. I am no expert and I don't want to take the thread at a tangent. I will suggest however that we help answer the OP questions rather than focus on our own personal perceptions of a religion... :O)

A lot of stupid things are being said by people, most of whom know nothing about the thing.

I love some of the comments. She is not asking your permission for becoming a Muslim. All she wants is an answer on marriage..

It is not permissible for a muslim lady to have subsequent marriage. Get divorced or annuled and you're free to re marry. If you will marry to your habibi and he got sick and tired of you he can easily dump you by simple divorce. THINK

no way to marry again, even you're both catholic in religion. Converting to Islam is not good idea at this stage, Sharia court will ask you about your status including the father of your children. Mostly all religion, women is not allowed for 2 at a time. anyway HELL still open.

in the Phillipines. I hope that if you convert its because you believe Islam is the one true religion, not for some man.

You can't marry another person as long as you are still legally married to someone in another country. It doesn't matter that you don't have communications with that person...you need to get a divorce first and then proceed with the new marriage.

It's ILLEGAL last time I checked...your new marriage will be cancelled ... but there's another thing....

at your embassy when you'll go and ask for the papers in order to go ahead you will need to bring from your country a statement from the Government ( or the civil state ) in which is stipulated that you are not married or if so, the paper that proves that you are divorced .

I am from Romania and last year I got married with an Egyptian , that's how I know.

Annul your previous marriage first before thinking of another one. And please don't use our religion just to get a short cut for marrying another one. Haram.

joyski, check with your embassy what if you convert to Islam. Will it automatically end your current marriage with the husband in Phils? Otherwise there is no other way to get married until the annulment is done. Plus I am not sure if mix religion marriages are allowed in Qatar.

Not a good idea. If they find out, both (or you) will be deported.

Step 1: don't get married.

Step 2: follow step 1.
