MoI warns on email fraud
The Ministry of Interior (MoI) 'in a series of tweets on its Twitter account, called on citizens to be careful and change their email passwords periodically', reports Qatar Tribune. This is following a new computer virus that comes in the form of email and uses the ministry's logos and pictures to blackmail victims.
Apparently the mail demads that the fines against the receipient be paid within 72 hours of receiving the mail. However, nothing is be mentioned as of what the content of the mail is and why the mail demands a fine.
Cyber safety measures recommended by the Ministry:
The ministry advised that in case of a virus attack, the victim should contact the Cyber Crimes Centre on 44521111 or [email protected].
To remove Urausy, the MoI advised to follow steps:
--Turn on the computer, then press F8.
--Select Safe Mode With Command Prompt
--If the user cannot quickly enough press on the button, they should repeat steps.
--Enter password and type *.del /f /q %appdata%skype to delete files
--Type the command to remove the virus from Windows logs, and
--Finally restart the computer.
