Demolition in Al Sadd

Al Sadd is changing shape quite quickly these days. I spotted this block in the process of being demolished and it looks like there are several more preparing for euthanasia. With a shiny new mall looking like it is getting ready to open, Al Sadd could possibly be looking to reclaim it's title as the commercial hub of Qatar.

The Shater Abass Restaurant is one of the largest components of the block that is coming down. Have you ever eaten in there? I'm sure this was a favorite eating spot for many once upon a time.

Does the decoration on the walls remind you of happy times eating in here?

Sights like these always make me sad, but I guess all good things must come to an end. Out with the old, in with the new.... evolution in progress.

Lets hope the development planed to replace this helps to breath life back into what is still in my opinion the center of Doha.
