An Arab girl who threatened to end her life apparently to press her boyfriend to marry her jumped to death from her Abu Dhabi apartment after he scoffed at her threats and called her bluff.
The boy was accused of failing to prevent her death and was sentenced to three months in jail, after which he will be deported.
The boy of the same nationality was standing just near the high rise building in the capital when his girl friend hurled herself down. He informed the police, rushed back home and himself tried to commit a suicide before he was stopped by relatives.
Police discovered the relationship between the couple when they checked the dead girl’s mobile phone, which contained many love massages from her boyfriend.
“Police said that the girl sent texts to her boyfriend telling him she would commit a suicide and asking his opinion,” Emirat Alyoum daily said.
“Police found that he sent her sarcastic answers and appeared to be calling her bluff as he apparently did not believe she would do it.”
The unnamed boy told court that he was cheated when the girl told him she was a university student, adding that he believed her as she was tall.
“He said her tall body gave the impression she was older, but he asserted that he intended to marry her soon,” the paper said.

Committing suicide is a cowardly act. That girl should have thumped a big frying pan in the middle of his legs to let him feel the "pain" rather than finishing her life.
Damn, how do people get satisfaction by inflicting pain on to themselves or killing themselves altogether. Pathetic ! Really!

actually in todays world love is named as a time pass or way of living the way filmstars does but girls r emotional fools who don"t think for her life as said girls think by heart not brain n fall for such bastards n give they lifes.
The guy must have obviously thought the woman was just bluffing. Many people do this..a lot! Haven't we all at some point experienced extreme emotional blackmail? Did we all react the way we should have? Sure he should have been more matured and sensitive in how he dealt with it, but God alone knows how much harassed he must have felt to respond the way he did.

Exactly why it's not the boys fault. If she was severely depressed I doubt there was anything he could have said or done to stop her. Perhaps he could have agreed to marry her and that would have prevented her for a short time, but eventually the depression would come back and take over.
There is a saying one man's trash is another man's treasure. If people could learn and believe that they wouldnt kill themselves over a guy/girl who simply dont see you as enough or marriage material. Very sad story.

But anyone who has experienced heart break before will know it is not an easy ride, at all.
And then you have people who suffer from mental/medical condition, it's very rare that this happens to a clinically sane person with no brain defaults. Suicide is never an option.
Marco, in many countries threatening a partner that you'll commit suicide if you don't get you want is termed emotional abuse.

sometimes things get too much for a person to cope with and unfortunately it can lead to self harming or even suicide.
When you are young and are in the illusion of Love,you act stupid.
I cant beleive that some people dnt value their life. this much their life is cheap!! am feeling pity for them.
Some people need to learn to curb their over emotional attitude.
And no, of course he should NOT be prosecuted.This method of threat to harm oneself is the very worst a person can resolve to. And most of the time it fires back.
