Don't feed the Troll

Everytime I log in to QL I find at least a handful of forum topics worth reading, and with some interesting, sensible, logical and rational responses. But, every forum topic degnerates quickly when the "trolls" come in and post their rubbish. And everytime I have to leave with a bad taste in my mouth (nothing a good frothy lager can't fix, but still..)

Who is a troll?
Someone who has no interest in contributing to a topic, deliberately tries to anger others, tries to hijack the topic, is annoying, obnoxious and tries to make himself/herself the centre of attraction.

We all respect the fact that this is an open forum and everyone has the right to post their opinions, however idiotic they may be. On properly moderated forums, trolls are identified by the moderators and their accounts promptly deleted. Not on QL.

PLEASE DON'T FEED THE TROLLS

So, how can you deal with the trolls? Ignore them! Read a handful of topics and you will quickly recognise who they are. There is absoutely no need to respond to their obnoxious, and immature posts.

If you have to respond, try this - TROLL ALERT: DO NOT ENGAGE!

In my personal opinion (you may disagree) we have more conflict of opinions than trolls here on QL.

We all are here from different backgrounds and cultures and we get news feeds from different outlets as well. So, eventually, we see the same thing and conceive totally different picture of the situation.

Besides this, almost all of us (including me), do not go an extra mile and try to understand what and why the person on the other side is trying to say.

Anyways, I don't think things will change here any time soon. So, lets agree to disagree. convey your opinion and leave.

I have noticed a couple of these FUGLY BULLIES they are no different to trolls! They must have thought to themselves that they are helpful, but they are actually THE QUEENS of BIATCHAS who attack some good posters too, So what is the difference between them and TROLLS? I'm curious with all the guts they have! I will soon find out when I get there.

Respectable my arse!

could easily determine who are the trolls, who have multiple ids, or the id's with previous/banned Ids.

with regards to trolling on board, we need troll-busters...lol

Trolls can be dealt with - not a problem.

What's really a problem right now is the enormous amount of spam bots in the forums. I think we need a better CAPTCHA ^^
