HRH Sheikha Mozah, I've admired her for years since I read about her progressive leadership in education, community welfare activities and projects in Qatar.

/To choose from that list then, Hillary Clinton who served well these past few years as US Sec of State.

I lost my mom years back(when I was an infant) and I admire her even if I did not see her. I do admire my wife too but in this case my vote is for Aung San Suu Kyi.

for me The most admired woman/lady of 2012 would be

Arfaa Kareem.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arfa_Karim

She was young and talented girl who lost her battle of life way too early.

Two things. Perhaps , she is too young to be classed a woman and most importantly, how many in America have actually heard of Malala..

Now back to topic ..

Was quite perturbed by that too. I honestly assumed she was The Most Admired Woman of 2012, judging by the kind of support and admiration she garnered in her ordeal.

HGL - I'm sure of Mother Teresa's SERVICE to humanity but I Can't be too sure of Mother Teresa's SELFLESSNESS. She definately had Conversion in her agenda and her funding from Rome was on that basis.

Not sure about her name but she was carrying a placard with number between every round of Manny Pacquiou's fight with Marquez last month. My vote goes to her.

Sonia Gandhi...wouldnt vote her even to be the last if the list is of the 'admired'.

Cannot name anyone who could otherwise be put under the numbers as all of them have something to gain in return...none as selfless as Mother Teressa and I can only admire her anytime and everytime until someone comes along to be at par with her.

My question was "Who would YOU vote for" ?

Not family - so mothers don't count..

Could it be Chancellor Angela Merkel for showing stature above male politicians or Christine Lagarde, the current head of IMF.

Perhaps it should be Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf , the President of Libera or even Sonia Gandhi ?

"The results are based on a USA Today/Gallup poll, which asks Americans to name their most admired man and woman living in any part of the world"....Is an American aware of other parts of the world? An average American doesnt even know the difference between a Hindu and Muslim, cannot differentiate something as big as demolition of 2 towers was carried out by whom, are generally unaware of things that go on in other parts of the world or there are so many other countries that exist...how could these results be of any significance then (other than for them).

(I note Malala in the list, but that may be cos she was in news recently and the ties between the two countries)
