School Age for Children

Hello All,

We came from Toronto, Ontario,Canada 1.5 years ago and our son is going to turn 3 in January 2013. We live close to the Duhail area. Most parents are preparing their children for kindergarden come September 2013. In Ontario my son would start school once he turns 4 years. If we happen to move back in 3-4 years they would place my son in the appropriate grade according to his age. I have a few questions I was hoping to get some answers to.

1. Should I wait until he is 4 years to admit him into kindergarden so it makes it easier to transition once we move back?

2. Which schools do you recommend?

3. Any tips on applying to schools here?

Schools of our choice.....no spaces. So continuing in the American curriculum we found places for them in middle east international school. We are hoping that spaces open up at the Canadian School.

Which school did you send your child to?

So why not enroll him in KG? At least they learn and interact with other children....as opposed to daycare... I was reluctant as well to send them to KG ....as April Flower pointed out in Canada...well in Quebec where I'm from children start kindergarten at the age of 5, and I fought tooth and nail with my husband about keeping them home with me, however I'm glad he won that battle as when we briefly returned to Canada for a year before coming here, I noticed they were very advanced and had more time to focus on the adapting part. I guess to each their own...just my opinion.

Register him in KG , if you do go back he'll be more advanced and will help with the transition.

At least he learns something as opposed to daycare.

Try the Canadian School.....they do however have limited places. I tried getting mine in but no places. Good luck .
