Minivan

hello everybody. i am a new member to QL, but i have been checking out this site for some time now .  i first want to say this is one of the best sites to use for expatriates entering qatar for the first time compared to others because i think the members really help out in answering questions. i feel like its a great little community !

my husband just received an offer to work in Qatar starting this june (which is the worse timing - summer) and i was wondering if it is wise to ship our minivan (2007 honda odyssey) over to qatar from the US? if so how much will this cost or where can i find out about the procedure for doing this? please advise Undecided

sound weird to many, but i think you should bundle your hubby and a mattress in the van and drive all the way to Doha. You will easily be here by june.

you to pay custome and that charges depends on model year. that might be around 25k something. then you have to pay for clearance too. total might possibly get around 30k-35k.

its not worth it shipping your car, just sell it and buy a new one here in Doha :)

See previous threads.    Consider selling it and buying another one when you get here.  Even if you did ship it, it would possibly take months to arrive, meaning you would pay through the nose for a rental.
