Is it an insult to merge in front of someone or let someone in?
I am getting used to people speeding up not to let people in front of them while changing lanes, I don't get it, but I am getting used to it.
Yesterday though, took the cake. I was in the right lane trying to get into the middle lane. The vehicle in the middle lane had left a gap for some reason, so I indicated and moved across gradually. Once the guy saw what I had done, he honked his horn angrily and speed up very quickly, and went around me just to get back in front of me. I was amazed.
Are people here really that impatient or discourteous?
Or is it an insult or am I missing something.
Yes it was a local.
not an insult for sure,..
but I totally Disagree with your thoughts about driving manners here in Doha,.. I beleive people here already lack any driving skills so they already leave more than sufficient distances between each car,. giving you the opprtunity to change lanes whenever you want.
I've been here in Doha For 15 years now,.. never seen someone that aggressive like the example you gave, yet the locals are the worse drivers here !
This is probably the one issue that continues to amaze and annoy me the most about Qatar - the absolute driven need to get three inches ahead of the next car and to take it as a life's mission to make sure the other guy doesn't get ahead of you.
So many lack driving manners, what to do...
You can drive like the streets are yours in doha If you use the locals techniques for driving....
I think it is insulting because of the selfish 'me first' attitude dsiplayed by drivers here. Enven if there is a major traffic jam and nobody is moving you still do not let anyone in.
If you display a moment of generosity and let someone in, there will be plenty of selfish drivers hooting behind you.
Exiledsaint, are you serious? and if so why is it such an insult?
No it’s not insulting unless you made it wrongly or at that time the spirit of the guy was down & he lost the control.
It’s just happen in the best city, don’t bother
Unfortunately people do not know how to use the road system let alone drive with a bit of respect.
Its their country after all...
Your question has its ANSWER as well ... "YES it was LOCAL" .... :))
It is an insult. If you manage to get in front of someone it is the same as sleeping with his sister. You are lukcy he did not throw stones at you....
