delayed salary... where should I complain

hi guys,

I work with Gulf Precast Company under Al Sarya Group of Companies...

My project is the Barwa City in Abu Hamour, we havent't our salary for December until now, and if we ask when we can get our salary with accounts people they will only say "nobody knows"...

one of my superiors also said if you don't like the company you can leave, pass a resignation

right now I haven't paid my house rent, last week our electricity were cut off, I couldnt complain to my landlady coz i havent paid the rent... we hadn't had electricity for a week and I just tried to get by... now we have electricity though...

my carlift stopped his service because i couldn’t pay him... so every morning I take taxi instead, but taxis are not allowed inside the site area so i have to walk 20m in a very dusty road with alot of trucks passing by...

I don't have much friends here in Qatar coz I've been working here for only 4 months, so I don't know who to borrow money from...

I run out of groceries too, I just skip breakfast and lunch, I know I can get by this...

I spoke with my GM, told him that why the company is doing this to us... he just smiled and nodded…

as I said earlier I've been working here for only 4 months, if I left the company, they say I have to pay what they had paid in my agency back in the Philippines and all other things like for the visa applications and medical fees and a hell lot of things... and I have to buy my own ticket for my repatriation...

I don't know now what to do...

expatriates here in GCC Area are less privileged...

can you please give me pieces of advice on what to do or where to go to complain

my sympathy is with u kabayan... i suggets that u contact our embassy or the POLO-OWWA first so that u cud be assisted by our fellow kababayans before going to Labour Dept.. or better yet you may ask for guidance through the administrators in FILEX Group... surely they know ways on the legalities of facing this problem.....

--i just admire wat u put on ur profile on being strong... you have to be bold most especially in facing the consequences...remember ur doing the right thing!... what they (your employers) have done is aginst the Law!

-- hope ur situation will improve soon!

Don't go immediatly to human rights, first ask with your supervisor if he not give proper answer, go to site manager, then project manager, then give written letter to your Incharge, if no any action within a week , go thru Human rights, they will show the next step. don't worry you will be get, i hope!

so sad to hear that kabayan... what about the other employees, did they receive their salary? in GCC most employers were accustomed to pay salary this way... beyond the normal payroll period. so far i have not heard of any agency where an employee can file a complain for the same reason as yours.

It says in your profile that you are "not afraid of people and situations and can take on any enemy".... I suggest you do this and soon - go to the labour department, after seeing how many of your colleagues are in the same situation.

My heart goes out to you - this is a really sad story :o(

Go to the Ministry of Labour on C-Ring road.. U can make a complaint there and they will arrange a meeting the next day with your employer and you. Then you can finnish everything, but after complaining there you will get your due salary but u will most likley get fired from your job after pissing off your employer.

Head straight to Labour Dept. There is one near the signal (Petrol station is visible, opposite Daihatsu Showroom) leading just after Ramada signal towards Toyota building-airport and the other in Industrial area.
