Description

Installation of radios equipments on vehicles. This is journey level electronics work in the assembly, building, installation, repair, maintenance and design of radio and other communications equipment. 

Work involves responsibility for assembling, building, installing, repairing, servicing, and designing medium, high and ultra high frequency radio receivers, transmitters, and other communications equipment. Work requires some knowledge of the theory and principles involved, and ability to apply acquired skills in developing better overall maintenance and installation techniques and utilization of equipment. The incumbent accompanies and receives assignments from a senior level technician working out in the field. An employee of this class is expected to work independently after the completion of a short probationary period. Maintenance and installation work is often done in accordance with established procedures. However, some initiative is required in developing improved methods and techniques as well as in utilization of communications equipment
