The Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking is to hold a survey on housemaids next month.
Dr Saadoun al-Hayali, an expert at QFCHT, said the survey was part of a comprehensive study seeking to shed light on problems facing domestic workers and find solutions to them.
“Our researchers have met officials at 13 government departments as well as those who are in charge of housemaids’ agencies to identify the problems,” he told reporters yesterday.
The survey will include interviews with 600 families and 1,200 questionnaires.
Al-Hayali appealed to the families to co-operate with the surveyors and provide them with “realistic” data. He said the survey was the first of its kind which deals with the issue of housemaids in Qatar.
“I hope that families will help us in our mission. Our success requires their co-operation with the researchers,” he added.
The study will cover the situation of domestic helpers including housemaids, drivers, gardeners, cooks. The surveyors will focus mainly on the Doha city.

I just have to wonder how this can be taken seriously:
A voluntary survey - Will any persons who are mistreating housemaids actually and honestly reply??
Do you abuse your housemaid? Yes - No
Do you not pay your housemaid for months at a time? Yes - No
Do you force your housemaid to work 24/7? Yes - No
Seems this survey is designed to prove that there is no problem with mistreated housemaids.
Yawn!!!!

Listen to Many..Speak to a few.
It might be written up similar to those on line govt questionaires where there are no negative answers, just I don't know :)
possible answers:
Do you abuse your housemaid? -- i treat my maid with utmost respect (yeah right :/)
Do you not pay your housemaid for months at a time? of course i pay her on time (another yeah right)
Do you force your housemaid to work 24/7? my maid works on hours that is commensurate to her pay (uufffft)
this must be some kind of a joke.
