Aspetar holds annual conference
Global experts met today at Aspetar to share their insights into the complexities of ‘The Athlete’s Shoulder’, marking the start of the hospital’s fourth edition of its Current Concepts conference.
The two-day annual symposium, developed by Aspetar, is a platform for sports medicine experts to share the latest advances in the management of sporting injuries, specific to certain areas of the human anatomy. This year, in-depth lectures, panel discussions and interactive seminars will delve into shoulder pathology and cutting-edge treatments available to ‘throwing athletes’ such as tennis players and baseball pitchers, offering delegates unique interaction opportunities with the world’s leading experts on shoulder treatment.
Dr Khalifa Al Kuwari, Director General of Aspetar said, “Shoulder injuries are common in athletes, as repetitive or excessive arm movement puts a great deal of stress on shoulder joints. Aspetar already treats athletes with shoulder injuries, both conservatively and surgically. Hence, we have dedicated this year’s Aspetar Current Concept conference to ‘The Athlete’s Shoulder’ in an attempt to increase the understanding of this part of the body.”
At this year’s conference, delegates will hear from experts such as, Dr Ben Kibler, the Medical Director for Lexington Clinic Sports Medicine Center in the US and member of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Sport Science Committee.
