im also a UK expat on a similar salary and i think its a good offer. my advantage is that i dont have family here but it is a good salary. u can also find villas for around 10,000 per month and buying a car could work out cheaper.. u will have to research schools as that is the biggest expense depending on the age of your children.. good luck! iv been here for nearly 2 years, not the best place in the world but i love it here!! :-)

do the math :

school fees at DESS (embassy sponsored) QR 8600 a term (they usually goes up 10 percents min each year).

Housing in the compound cheapest about 14000 to 15000 a month, water electric cable TV and internet will set you about 1500 a month.

If the company not paying for medical, to go to private hospital will cost you QR 300 per consultation. Hamad Hospital is allright if you can put up with the long winded red tape.

Car hire will cost you QR 1700 and there about each for a month.

Anything over 30k is good. The main costs are accommodation and school fees.. jsut check that these are covered or contributed towards.
