Salary Ranges

Dear All;
Im currently working on salary scale and compensation policy for one of our sister companies in Qatar. I was wondering if any could help me in findin the correct salary ranges for each position.
For instance: Accountant (what is the expected range?).
As I know well that the salary depends on the nationality/position/qualification/yrs of exp/the size of the company ,which make it harder for me to come out with an approx. figures.
I tried calling one of the marketing reseaches and they have told me that they will be needing to conduct research through phone (Telemarketing) .... Such a study would take a minimum of two months as they need to contact several people for each position to compare answers given ...I also tried calling recruitment agencies as I thought they may help ...
I was wondering if you guys can provide me with other alternatives .. kindly note that I tried searching over the net and up till now, i could not find a source in which I can obtain these information within a short period of time.
Thank you;
This is a question that I use in companies when establishing the value of analysis when setting job relativities and that reflects upon using the job title only (as suggested by ria)
Three Titles – which do you think is the higher grade?
Financial Director
Managing Director
Human Resources Manager
I feel certain that you have all achieved the same result. Top job will be the Managing Director, second will be the Finance Director and third will be the Human Resources Manager.
By giving even a little more information in lieu of a full job analysis, that rank order can be totally revised.
Managing Director – total employees in company - 2
Financial Director– total employees in company - 150
Human Resources Manager – total employees in company 150,000
The above indicates in a very simplistic manner, how analysis can change an individual’s opinion of job relativity.
I am also planning to do a benchmarking session for my company, but as you mentioned, its very difficult. But, I think the people who has the same intention, can share it for comparison.
Please suggest... if so I hope we can start a form exclusively for that.
I think the company should take a good long look at how they are approaching this exercise.
This type of approach will render nothing but incorrect comparisons. Consultants need time to undertake the job correctly (to determine accurate comparisons from similar and other organisations, establish that the information is accurate, to analyse the data and present their recommendations).
