I'll try my best to give you a perspective on what you should consider when moving to Doha.

I'm asuming you're single for now considering you're experience.

To live in India with the current salary you have 8.2lakhs thats sums upto Rs.50,000 to Rs.52,000 per month after tax?

Lets say an expensive city like Bangalore how much will you save?

2Bed 2 Bath apartment with swimming pool, gym facilities etc including maintenance(water+electricity) = Rs.24,000 pm

Maid = Rs.2000 pm

News Paper = Rs.100 pm

Cable TV= Rs.300 pm + initial deposit of Rs.3000

Internet = Rs.1200

If you want to buy a car a Maruthi-Suzuki Swift will cost you approx Rs.10,000pm(3 year loan) or Rs.6,000(5 yr loan)

Food & Drink

Well depnding on if you like to party or not(being in Bagalore;)) ur monthly food & dink expenses could be anywhere from Rs.5,000 to Rs.15,000

Other expenses

You can keep a buffer of Rs.10,000 for other expenses like clothes or dent on car or falling sick or joining salsa classes etc

Going home

Depends on where you're home town is how often you chose to travel.

Now the big question is if you're in Doha will you be able to live this kinda life style and manage to save too??? I'm not sure if you can but the others will be able to help you on that.I dream of a better tomorrow where Chickens can cross the Road without having their motives questioned - Unknown

Asha, as of me, I think the offer is gud for u and only thing is that u need to take the final decision and b4 u make the finial decision read thru the contract meticulously and then sign it. Qatar is not having much gud openings in IT field so I think the offer is gud to u, this is my personal opinion. You can always go thru the other opinions too...

Err, i'm just gonna skip the comments cos i get a feeling its going in the wrong direction again

and come straight to the qs by asha,

I think IMHO, this offer would give you a comparable lifestyle to what you would have in India. In other words, not much incentive to move. But i would suggest you make an evaluation sheet in excel, to get a reasonably accurate idea of the savings. feel free to pm me for a template.

I say comparable because this is an expensive country. Sometimes, i have noticed that a person can buy a luxury car and all in the salary he gets in his home country whereas at a slightly higher salary in Qatar, he can't afford a lifestyle as comfortable as back home.

So i would suggest to consider this aspect.

Not totally as I already said, that phrase DI is a touch smaller in relation to the Actual SIN required to influence a Decision is all that I am saying...and trust me girl, that SIN or DI that you call, certainly differs from Nationality basis...

i guess, it is his net earnings he is comparing with... after slashing off those disposable income on top of his offer...

Just make sure you do your sum carefully ... And whatever they promise to you make sure they put it in the contract.

I agree with you DG ... I hate it when people saying this amount of $$$ is good / not good for certain nationalities. Totally nothing to do with where you come from, it is something to do wether you qualified or not qualified for the job.

And as for Vegas ... i know him very well outside the forum. His social friend really comes from different nationalities - religions and walk of life. Although he is rather 'weird' at times , but i consider him as one of our good family friend. I understand he just need to be more tactful when he post in similar thread.

By ksarat16• 19 May 2008 08:58
ksarat16

Well how muchever you Diplomatic you might try to put your answer, you cant be telling me or anyone else that, (whilst I know this question isnt about Nationality, trust me, when there is a new job offer on hand, nobody will look at that offer with a Nationalistic Point of View) that just because you make better money than home, you accept that salary, I mean come on DG, this decision making needs to be made more on the fact that whether the offer is as per local market and then translate that into currency conversion...Thats how it really needs to be taken...because end of the day, it is unfortunately not the CTC that makes the difference but rather the SIN that makes the difference (SIN= Savings in HAND)...isnt it?

And thats where unfortunately again, numbers differ on the basis of Nationalities, Passports....etc etc...verious Political Reasons...which have practically no bearing and no importance of usage in this kind of Offer placement...

By diamond• 19 May 2008 08:58
diamond

Perhaps I'm looking at it from a different angle. I am an employer who pays according to the job, not the nationality.

In this case, it has nothing to do with nationality. The questioner is being offered more than his current position with added benefits of housing, etc. I think he will base his decision on whether he will be able to save money rather than whether it is o good offer for a man of his nationality. If he wanted to know that, he would have phrased the question differently.

Morning girl,

Cant accept your statement about nothing to do with Nationality, unfortunately in this kinda place it works like that, unfortunately a TCN gets paid like he was back home and not keeping in view the current situation, the qualification, the experience and such factors, and not Nationality, there is no use in telling anyone else, instead, the F***NG Indian Employers are the same Bulls5it breed...LOL!!!...What to do...

And I really dont think your other part of the statement, if it is better than your previous offer, naaa, for a better offer you might as well find something there, but then again, you are changing to a new place, you might as well consider your offer only worth if it is on PAR with THAT LOCAL MARKET...

Third Country National definition:

Third Country National (TCN) describes individuals of other nationalities hired by a government or government sanctioned contractor who represent neither the contracting government nor the host country or area of operations. This is most often those performing on government contracts in the role of a private military contractor.

Nationality has nothing to do with it being a good offer. It is only a good offer if it is more than one's current salary and therefore a chance to have more disposable income at the end of each month.

Now you need to take it easy...there...dont take the conversation to another level...

Seriously, Vegas is a pretty nice person and surely he must have typed that a bit incorrectly...

So take it easy...or in other words, SHUT UP!!!

First of all, dude congrats on the offer, for a moment I thought wats this name Asha and then a Male...LOL!!!

Anyways,

Dude...the offer needs to be more elaborate...nowadays, your basic component is one side of the coin but the allowances are the other side which acutally decide whether you can work out things here and SAVE here...so you need to be more explanatory in terms of Numbers...out down your complete offer so that we could screen...

On the basic...F**K no QR9000/- but then again, is it Single, Family, whats the Family Size and then again, whats the rest of the offer looking like...

Please have that put down in numbers and then we will hit you with some harsh ground reality and some advices...

CHEERS MATE.!!!
