Job Offer - Civil Engineer

Hi,

I am from UK and got a job offer to work in Doha for a year.

I'm Civil Engineer with 5 years experience.

Salary: 13500 QAR/month
Plus Housing: 10000 QAR/month
Plus Car Allowance: 1300 QAR/month

(Total pack: 24700 QAR/month) - Comments?

Can you please advise if 10k QAR/month is enough for a good 1 bedroom apartment and for utilities bills???

Also, any idea how much it cost a car hire per month??

Thanks

As you are a westener then you will be seeking a good luxury apartment, (ZigZag, WestBay Towers,..) etc. The monthly rent in these will be around 8000-10000 where a normal studio will cost you around 5000.

However, being an engineer, I would like to point out that a salary of 13,500QR/month is not an attractive package in reference to :

1. Your experience (5 years)

2. Your Nationality (Usually westerners get higher salaries in Qatar )

This could give you some ideas...in the mean time try doing a search on cost of living and you will find lots of reading to do...and in recent past weeks this was the main topic all over the site.

Regards!!

Since you are from UK, do consider the depreciation of currency due to forex, pound to qatar riyal. (1gpb = 5.3qr) this time around. QR13500 isn't much considering high cost of living here.

What about your medical and air tickets? Will the company not provide for them?
