Dubai is much better than Doha. Emirates is a great place to shop, its huge and not to mention the Dubai ski right in the middle of the shopping centre, its quite surreal. Dont forget to go to the marina theres heaps of nice restaurants, espcially at night...I cant wait to go again, i forgot i was in the ME when i was in Dubai....its very modern...

I found the driving a bit more civilised than here(with the exception to taxis speeding).

A weekend is better than nothing but 5 days in Dubai is much better...

are very similar to Doha, perhaps even slightly cheaper than Doha. The choice is much better in Dubai and the service is better too. In short, Dubai is better.

I looked at some rental apartments on the Palm and they were fabulous. A two bedroom apartment with maid's room, access to beach club and gym was DH13,000 per month. Much cheaper like for like than here.

If you are on a budget, the hotel Karama is lovely, has a pool and nice places to eat. it is out of town though and you would need to get a taxi to the beach, we did with no problems at all. It cost us about 280QR a night.  And you can go to Ikea, I am so jealous!

I was there for 5 days last week but I have been there many times. Its a great place and there is no shortage of things to do. The traffic is not so bad in Jumeriah but it is bad around Deira and the creek and up to Sharjah.

If you are just going for the weekend, stay in Jumeriah. There is plenty to do there.

Dubai is great. For restaurants in the evening go to Madinat Jumeirah. For fun during the day go to Wild Wadi. For hotels on the beach, again Jumeirah. I stayed in Le Royal Meridien last week.

For shopping the Emirates Mall is in Jumeirah and is pretty good. You can even go skiing there.

Don't forget to get hot dogs and bacon which you can get at Spinneys.

Have fun
