Qatar Airways National Day radio

Hi,

on my way to work this morning I must have heard 10 radio spots from Qatar Airways on QBS saying something about the National Day offer.

I checked out the website and it only says to come back on the 18th December.

Does anyone got any idea what this is about???

Hi,

I got an email from Qatar Airways earlier today announcing that they give 20% discount on everything if you book on National Day.

So it's not a marketing trick but actually quite a good deal. Will book my flights tomorrow then :)

If you are planning to travel any soon, then wait till the 18th of December first.

Nic, my desk is right next to the person who did this "thing", believe it or not it's all up to you.

But the 18th of December is very soon, so let's see what will happen.

dunebasher,

All they want is you to subscribe for their news letter and then use your personal data for other commercial purposes.

"Trap" was a metaphor used in the sense that they incite you with suspense to get what they are looking for, your personal info. Don’t worry; it’s not a scam, just common e-marketing.

The worse thing that can happen is that you will be receiving all QA newsletters and other advertisements as well as from their related and/or associated businesses. In short, your junk mail will probably increase, no big deal, just but be aware, that’s all.

Hi Nic,

so back to the original question, do you have any idea what it might be that they are doing?

I agree with the other comments Qatar Airways wouldn't advertise everywhere just for a marketing ploy.

mimi37,

You underestimate how personal data is used in the cyber world and how much income, its access can generate.

Read the very small font Qatar Airways’ Newsletter subscription conditions, and you’ll see what they might do with your personal information.

I work in QA, actually it is a surprise. So get back to the website on the 18th of December and check it out! Try to be the first one! And if it's no big deal then blame me.

It's a great catch!

Why would QA do a marketing ploy? spend all this money on radio for what, a few emails addresses?

I signed up to la Enewsleter and I'm waiting for the December 18th!

Does anyone know what they are going to announce?

Mimi

It’s a marketing trap! They want to create suspense!

They promise something in exchange of you signing up to their newsletter, and then they will use your information elsewhere so you can start receiving even more junk mail.

Check the conditions and you'll see what they will do with your personal data.
