Nandos City Center Service Worst Ever

rizalazhar
By rizalazhar

Never in my life, I felt being ill treated as what i felt when i went to Nandos at City Center last few week.

I know there is always double standards in Qatar, but as a paying customer, i believe equal treatment should be given, no matter what skin color or cloth you wear.

I hope the Nandos management (if you're reading this) can do something about this type of treatment, especially when this type of treatment comes from the group of "employee/ people" who are being recruited for the service industries.

Who gave them the right to differenciate which is the best customer, when payment for the food is exactly the same.

I've been to other fastfood joint, and the same type of "people" treats others with respect. So I was wondering, what is so special with this type of employees working in Nandos City Center?

Do onto others, as you want others do onto you.

I have been to Nandos

in all outlets in Qatar and other countries.

and always found the service great and food tasty.

They are very busy at City Centre and always found them to be fantastic.

I had the same experience as well in Nando at Cty Ctr,

luckily i managed to control my anger, who has been treated as if like i don't have big $!

But one thing for sure is NANDO's image is ruined by having this kind of staff with such an attitude.

gooshhh, poor NANDO, i can still remember HIS face.

mjamille28 - said "... most will think this is just a move to tarnish Nando's reputation..."

- Don't think so. From his perspective, it must have appeared to be serious enough to make him that angry. From his perspective...

Rizal, i) it's cowardly to just "hit and run". You should at least give a gist of what happened. (Edit - NB: I did not say you were a coward but that your actions are. You shouldn't explain too much but you shouldn't say nothing at all because none of us here know you but we're willing to take note of a reasonable complaint and be aware - assuming that was the point of your opening post)

ii) it's rude not to reply when so many people have responded to your thread. It's not cool to be the "strong, silent type" in this regard. If you say something, back it up. State your perspective and you'll be either supported or bashed, but take it like a man. If you happen to be wrong, just learn from the mistake and move on.

iii) you're Malaysian too? Please don't embarrass the rest of us.

Edit: One thing about the mentality of some people (note: some, not all or even many) is that they feel that they need not explain themselves to anyone except their closest friends, which is true to an extent, BUT it also is a cover up for lack of good communication skills and that leads to other problems, not just in personal relationships but in work relationships as well. Ok, I'm outta here. I've ignored the advice to not bother about you for a while but I've decided to give this one last statement. Goodbye to OP.

Hello Qlers.

Firstly, thank you for your participation sharing ideas, and discussing comments to this thread.

Secondly, my appologies for taking so long to reply. I didn't realize, that my thread could be such a crowd puller.

Truth be told, when i looked back into all the comments, the good, bad, and ugly, all i can summon up is that, at the end of the day, it is based on skin color, and type of cloth u wear.

Back in Malaysia, I love to go to Nandos. It was a tradition for me as well. So when I came here, I was really dissapointed by the way the "service" staff, treated their customer.

But, being a good sport, I went to Nandos few days back, saw the same people, only difference is, i wore my 3 piece suit. My GOD!!! Never have i seen the fastes da*n service ever.

So the question is, does skin color, n good cloth makes any different in paying the food that we eat at Nandos??

Suffice to say that what I wrote here, you can use your own imagination as to what happened? Why need to bad mouth the establishment more, if you yourself have experience it.

Those who had a superb treatment by the service staff, good for you. You won't get the experience of being miss treated, period.

eaglemmanuel: thank you for your comment, especially love the last part.

But because I'm a Malaysian, is the reason why I never write about it again, and again, n again, telling people how bad it was.

Because actually, at the end of the day, it's the ideas, and comments from each members whom have experience the good, bad, n ugly, is whats important.

Try to find a solution, not create more tensions. Hoping that the Nandos Management read all this, and if they love their customer, and take positive actions, I'm sure a lot of people will enjoy their time at Nandos.

Thank you again, Qlers for your generous ideas, opinions, and comments.

I have been a frequent visitor to Nando's in Dubai, so the first thing I noticed when I visited their outlet in salwa road was the total absence of smiles (something which I had so gotten used to). Everyone was walking around like they were at a funeral. Real grouchy. Was surprised but thought "Whatever ...maybe they were having a bad day.."

Waitress brings me the dish n runs away, I wait another 15 mins for the knife/fork/spoon to come.

Funniest part was I was heading for the restroom when I saw 4 of restaurant staff sitting at one of the tables and having their dinner. I saw some dishes which were not on the menu. So I asked one of the waitresses who told me that they prepare their own dishes in the restaurant kitchen and have them there.

Donno what to make out of this though. Have never come across restaurant staff sitting in the dining area of a chain restaurant having food that was nowhere near the stuff covered in the restaurant menu.

I don't recall ever seeing a Filippino manager there, but I definetely know who you are talking about.

The Arab manager/supervisor dude is great. Always smiling, helpful with ordering, fast service.

I dont know about the Filippino manager there, but the stocky arabic guy is A+. I dont think it has to do with being white, my husband goes there all the time and is not a white guy and no joke he always feels like the bees knees when he walks out of that place. Nandos in CC will even go as far to go and get food (such a tabouleh) from other restaurants if you ask.

I hate to say this, but about 2 1/2 years ago, also at that exact same NANDO'S in CITY CENTER, I was also maltreated by one Filipino Manager (or Supervisor?). Its so embarrassing that my own Kabayan would act like that to a NEW CUSTOMER (yes, it was my first time in a Nando's restaurant that time). I was looking for a unique ice cold drink (like those found in other expensive restos) aside from the usual softdrinks/iced tea, etc. Upon asking if there were any available, I was so I-N-S-U-L-T-E-D when he answered me, "Sir, kung gusto niyo ng ganun, pumunta na lang kayo ng McDo o kaya sa iba!" (Sir, if you want something like that, just go to Mc Donald's or elsewhere!). WTF!!! You expect that from a "MANAGER/SUPERVISOR" who should be a role model to his subordinates in serving his customers. UNEDUCATED and ILL-MANNERED!!!

NOTE: I wrote a comment on one of their comment/suggestion card, but I wonder why until now, I still see him around.

If only I have taken a (photo) shot of that crazy guy, I could have posted it here! I am absolutely sure he still remembers me!

Edit/Addition: Hey! Anybody interested to have a QL New Years EB there?! I would love to get back at that guy! I'll prove to him that customer should be right (not all the time, but most - especially in my case!).

I go there heaps of times, to Salwa, Al Saad and City Center, and I've only ever had good experiences.

But I'm a white guy...

Since the author is reluctant to say anything about his experience, I guess we should assume that nothing really happened at all, or he would have told us.

But from what most people have said above, Nando's actually sounds like it has a much greater level of customer satisfaction than most restaurants in Doha!

I guess in a really odd way, this thread has given more people the chance to say how great the restaurant is!!!

Hi, my husband also had a bad customer experience @ CC Nandos and vowed that he will not go back there again. He was waiting for take aways when one of the waiters just pushed him out of the way without even apologising afterwards. He called the manager and this one was very arrogant. They don't treat everybody the same. They take a person by face value.

We have eaten there a lot of times and most of the waiters were very nice. But now we will rather go to the Al Sadd Nandos where the service is great! and the atmosphere better than the one in CC.

I would actually go as far to say that Nandos in City Center gives the best service of most of the places we have gone for casual dining. We get awesome food service, some cheery banter with the waiters and leave there with no complaints about anything.

I will say that I have seen some patrons being a bit rude to the wait staff and they took it for a bit but.... what more can you expect?
