Meteor Shower, Wednesday 12th August
Hello all,
I just saw a segment on Emirates news about the Perseids meteor shower which will be seen in the sky on the night of the 12th and in the small hours of the morning of the 13th of August. There will be an event organised in the Emirates for people to gather and watch and also view Jupiter and the moon through telescopes.
Does anyone know of any such event taking place here in Qatar?

Got as far away from city lights as possible, but it was a dusty night and visibility was poor. Gave up after a while.
I'm finally in a country that has a probability of clouds of 0%, and then this happens. *sigh*
Roll on clear skies in November for the Leonids.
I don't have my own telescope. :(
That's why I was looking for an organised event.
Still, the meteors should be easily visible with the naked eye.
Ermmmmm, Bob, I think that's a just a little too far away from Doha. I was thinking of somewhere just outside the city where there isn't much light to interfere with the night sky. Any recommendations?
