hamadaCZ I wouldn't go as far as 'second class citizens' ...there are some incidents but I wouldn't generalize.

True :)

Many Saudis look down on people from Jeddah considering them "impure" genetically!

Some still belive that Jeddah should be part of Jordan :O)

They were kicked out of Saudi Arabia to Jordan and Iraq, so being a "Hashemite" doesn't help.

Jordanian nationals of Palestinian descent constitute 70% of the population and are treated as a second class citizens.

So what if people are descendants of prophet Mohammad? That does not give them the right to do whatever they like, does it? Afterall, are we not all descendants of Adam, the first man and the first prophet?

If needed countries like India, Bangla desh and the philippines could help this despots in their transition to a free and democratic system. It might be a bit messy and noisy like it is at those places but worth every bit of it and then you dont have to blindly hero worship this guys at the top. Its part of the process of learning from the countries who have the experience

A lot of these so called ruler claim decendency from the Prophet to legitimize their rule..the reality is different..most of claims cannot be verified and even then it has no bearing on the facts...i.e. these Kingdoms were created by the British and French (Sykes/Picot Agreements, Percy Cox and then Balfour; not to mention the treat made in Istanbul in the 1920's where it was agreed to carve up the muslim world)...these guys were placed into power for their loyalty to Britain and France and now their decendants remain in power thanks to the americans..the people despise them..it is only a matter of time.

Prophet Muhammad didnt have any male heirs. So the direct descendancy as looked at in the arab world doesnt give him the right to claim that.

Nobody will dare to 'touch' the king. He is a Hashemite, a direct decendent of Prophet Muhammed. He is pretty safe. (Or is it just a made-up story?)

During the Black September they had a common cause to unite and support the King. So the tribes united to drive out the Palestinians. But now the situation is entirely different. So will the people remain loyal to the King?

Its about time. The people in those countries have been putting up for too long. May God protect and help them get what they really want. Let us hope they get the democracy some of us have been enjoying in our home countries. My thoughts are with them all.

I love to see how Israel is getting tense about this. They ve been begging the US to support Mubarak. Hahahahaha...

I once saw a map of Palestine as it was before and how it is now. The Israelis have been spreading across Palestine like Cancer over the years...good to see these f*u*cking ba%s^tards, cancer of the M.E. getting nervous and tense...

Now they can feel how the people they have been oppressing felt when they dropped bombs on them and innocent children...

When the winds of change start blowing it will blow away everything in its path be it loyal servants or puppets of the regime. Well you cannot fool and take your subjects for a ride forever.

Jordan has a different demography,state-tribal relations play a major role unlike Egypt, Police,Military and powerful positions are 100% Jordanians and they are loyal to the king by tribe, we all remember black September, don't we ?

The King is there to stay. Jordan has slightly different problems, but the basic issues are teh same - rising unemployment, prices and disenchantment.

He can dismiss the government, but will it cure the ills. i doubt it.
