HSBC Customer Service!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Who on earth teaches the customer service guys at this bank? They are absolutely shocking. They do not care one bit about how they handle people.
I have had money go missing from my account due to a mistake on HSBC behalf, and they way they have treated me is disgusting. I have spoken to 3 separate people, and I have to repeat the same story every time.
The guy I spoke to today was full of apologies, but was of no use whatsoever, and somehow turned the blame round to me that the money was missing. I will complain about him to as high a person I can get hold of, and hope that he gets the disciplinary that he needs. I really do not care if he looses his job. Maybe only then will people in that bank realise that they way they treat people is horrific.
I would change banks, but I hear they are all the same here, so better the devil you know!!!!!!!!!!

people are getting jobs through influence and hr and recruitment people some places including hsbc are not screeing applications properly for jobs so ou will get idiots like these working in customer service in banks who dont know anything abt customer service change your bank qnb is good

On other hand I fin QIIB much better than QIB...

I had a bad experience recently, tht i requested them to open current account to get a cheque book. But they rejected saying as per the policy thy wil open current account of minimum salary of 10000QR. As my friend who is working in Commercial bank, they wil accept if we hav 7000QR. So i ask HSBC to giv my Credit Letter so i can open account in any other bank. They agreed but they called me back after a week saying thy approved to open the current for me. Lolll they scared.... :)
@ OP - my experience is with CBQ over 5 years - absolutely no problems - small branch, first name terms with the Manager and ALL staff - unless you have a particular reason for sticking with HSBC and I understand you may, then you might want to consider a more "cosy" arrangement with smaller branch who will be pleased to handle your account. Just a thought.

sneesy - cheers, also, did you ever hear of a bank employee beating up a customer anywhere in the world but Qatar - friend witnessed it in QNB, and I still think on balance probably the least worst in town.
Actually jjj75 was being complimentary...we all know on a whole customer services are pretty bad all over Qatar and she is saying they are the best out of a bad bunch. And I have to agree with her.
Word of mouth is the best form of advertising - you have a good experience you don't feel the need to repeat it, but if you have a bad experience you will tell anyone and everyone who will listen.

No BG, but if others have had bad experiences with them, you should allow them to voice their opinion. Just because you seem to have a good rapport with them, it doesn't mean others did or do. Although, I am with QNB, I know plenty of others who left them to go to HSBC...
MN - good for you,glad you have I have been here about 4 years and heard bad things about ALL the banks here. but if the OP wants to jump from the frying pan into the fire, so be it.
Khanan, please read my earlier comment, that is the point, it is not really being managed from abroad - it is managed locally. Like the BMW service centre here is locally managed, not managed from BMW HQ in Germany and ergo reflects the standards of local customer service (usually dismal).
The banks in Doha are the best in the world. That's what you expect from the 'Richest Country' in the world!! Or aren't they?

QNB was my first bank in Qatar but the service was not good so I switched to HSBC...so far so good.

QNB - staff been known to beat up customers. Also a friend noticed that someone with a vaguely similar name had money paid into her account than the other customer. She notified them of their error, which they admitted was their error.My friend found out that the other poor person had to jump through hoops to get her money back, despite proving it was the banks fault.
See - all got horror stories.
QNB is the best bank still now never experienced any complain or problems
QNB is good among the lot followed by QIIB
Try QNB - they see to be the least incompetant - sorry not saying much really about the standards of local banks, we all have horror stories to tell
I agree with the comment of Khanan. They are World Local Banks, and you need more wasta than qualification to get a job there.

Actually BG - HSBC (stands for Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking corporation) run franchises in this region (they have to under the 51% sponsorship regulations) and the service you receive in one country may bear no resemblance to what you experience elsewhere.
I remember a South African colleague who had come over from Abu Dhabi and she held an HSBC bank account there. She fully expected everything to be transferred over from AD but they would not do it saying they were not linked and were a local bank in their own right with very few links to HSBC worldwide, other than the branding and the name.
welcome to Qatar my friend...........:).....LOL.....All banks are the same.........let it be a local bank or an international bank.....All you have to do is go to the higher management and put in your grievance. also complaint about the customer service. I have little hope they will improve. But still give it a try......
