DRIVING A DUBAI REGISTERED CAR TO DOHA??

I moved from Dubai to Qatar last November.

Now I have a Qatari residence visa and the UAE visa is already cancelled.

I have a car in Dubai which is registered until next year.

I want to drive my car from Dubai to Doha with the same Dubai nr. plate.

My questions:

- What is the formal procedure or the clearances etc. I will have to get?
- How long I can drive this car in Doha with Dubai nr. plate?
- My car is now more than 5 years old. Can it be imported into Qatar?

Help Please!!

Hi,

Well if you car is earlier than 2004, you cannot import it to Doha. I suggest you ask your best friend to sell in dubai itself. You need to cross Saudi Arabi by land and you need to take insurance for Saudi and Doha....it is going to cost much...the roads i heard are quite dangerous with big trucks.

I imported my 2004 car from Dubai and registered in Doha costing me about QR 8000 by ship. Inspections are more stringent than Dubai.

Hope it helps.
