Life as a Christian in Qatar

Dear All,
I am new to Qatar and I am Christian. I would like to go to a Church during the weekend since I live alone here. I understand that Churches have their sessions here on Fridays. I know there are number of Christians in Qatar. I look forward to some guidance in finding a good church. I know the law forbids from displaying symbols from other religion and I don’t get to see any around Qatar.
I understand it’s very difficult to meet people around here and hardly any socializing. I believe meeting families will help one get rid of their boredom.
I would also like to know how life is for Christians in general in Qatar. Are there any likely hurdles to be faced?
I also notice that there are not many discussions about religion here. Infact there is no such topic to choose from.
Cheers.

I just got information from my friend about the great Church in Doha maned " Grace Followship ". I didn't get chance to go there yet. My friend said just call taxi and tell him to go " Brazilian Embassy " and AL Ahnaf Bin Qais School. Turn first left and the villa is the first vill on the right hand side (Building No.9 is Church). I wish we can meet you there. God will bless and take you to that place easy.

God Blessing!!

No danger to Christians in Qatar, i've been here almost 5 years, congregating on a protestant non-denominational church, and have never had an issue... if you are Catholic or Anglican there are temples in the way to the industrial area, i understand there are mass on friday saturday and even sunday... if are protestant, there are one church near the rugby club in Doha, one in west bay area and another one in al khor (not sure if al khor or dukhan), in the protestant ones, services are only on fridays, during the week there are praying services, and family meetings.. and again, no need to worry about your religious life if dont mess it...

To the OP:

By order of the Qatari constitution, Christianity is tolerated in Qatar. You may were a cross around your neck, attend church, own a Bible, meet with other Christians, etc. The only major rule is against proselytizing to locals.

You'll find the Christian community both diverse and hospitable--there's every type in Qatar. My advice is to try a range of them.

Please inform which denomination of Christianity do you follow and from which part of the world you are coming from.

Yes Santa claus died on the cross and comes back each year to remind us of his sacrifice by leaving presents. A true gift from God.

I think you will be able to find too many Christians here. it should not be a problem. Whether someone wants to socialize is upto them. As in, it is a personal choice.

No religion discussions. Yeah, because discussions of such nature, religious or political quickly turn nasty. It is therefore best to avoid such discussions, I mean on this site. Elsewhere for instance in your house or friend circle, you are free to talk about what you choose.

You will be fine, many remember the reasons why santa claus died on the cross for our sins, it will not be forgetten in Qatar either.

Santa Claus and Christmas carols are part and parcel of Qatar. Most of the hotels arrange it.

There is a large community of Christians.

there are plenty of christians here and they all do their thing and no one bothers them..you're new to the place so are bound to feel a bit isolated. Give it time; you'll be fine. Concentrate on getting a good social circle going. Places like these are best enjoyed with good friends/company. The religion topics may be short in supply because they quickly decompose into slug fests with everyone insulting and abusing each other haha. Best of luck.

Santa Claus doesn't make a stop here on Christmas.
