Pakistani community bazaar to kick start in Al-Khor this weekend

A Pakistani Community Bazaar will be held in Al Khor on Friday at the New Football Field of Al Khor Community near Al Khor Hospital.
The event is being held by Al Khor-based Pakistani community forum ‘Sohni Dharti’ and entry is free and open to people from all nationalities.
The timing of the Community Bazaar will be from 2pm until 7pm, said Anwar Ali, from the Forum.
Stalls will be selling Pakistani garments, leather items, decoration materials and fresh vegetables and fruits—all these also from Pakistan.
In Pakistan, this is the season of mandarins, so the Community Bazaar has been named by its organizers as ‘Sohni Dharti Mandarin Festival’.
But the event will literally be a bazaar and so many items, including Pakistani garments, other fresh fruits as well as cuisine, will be available.
A highlight will be that two famous Pakistani restaurants, namely, Zauq and Zeeshan, will be setting up stalls at the venue of the event. They will be offering to visitors for sale mouthwatering Pakistani specialties like chicken karhai, gajar halwa (carrot-sweet), other sweets as well as fast food.
Seekh kebab, Katakat, boti kebab and samosa chat will be the other food items available.
Among the fresh vegetables from Pakistan will be available mustard leaves (sarson da saag, a thick paste-curry preparation eaten with gusto with the bread made of corn flour, called Makkay Di Roti).
Fresh carrots from Pakistan will also be available as well as shaljam and moongray at the vegetable stalls.
A company has imported 1,000 boxes of fresh mandarins from Pakistan and each box weighs about five kg. The mandarin season in Pakistan begins in January.
The event is being held in close association with the embassy of Pakistan in Doha. The ambassador of Pakistan to Qatar is expected to grace the occasion, the organizers of the event said.
More details about the event can be had from mobile phone numbers 66084437 and 55204380. [The Peninsula]
