Financial Crisis

- President Bush said clients shouldn't be concerned by all these bank closings. If the bank is closed, you just use the ATM, he said.

- George Bush said that he is saddened to hear about the demise of Lehman brothers… His thoughts at this time go out to their mother as losing one son is hard but losing two is a tragedy.

- The problem with investment bank balance sheets is that on the left side nothing is right and on the right side nothing is left.

- There are 30 billion prime numbers below 700 billion. The rest are all subprime.

- How do you define optimism? A banker who irons 5 shirts on a Sunday.

- What do you call 12 investment bankers at the bottom of the ocean? A good start.

- Why are all MBAs going back to school? To ask for their money back.

- For Geography students: What's the capital of Iceland? Answer: About Three Pounds Fifty...

- A trader: "This is worse than a divorce. I've lost half my net worth and I still have a wife."

- If you want to gamble, go to Las Vegas. If you want to trade in derivatives, God bless you.

- What's the difference between a guy who just lost everything in Vegas and an investment banker? A tie.

- What's the difference between a bond and a bond trader? A bond matures.

- Lehmann have changed their recommendation on Lehmann from hold to sell.

- Forty years ago I sold fifty shares of my company stock and had enough money to purchase a brand-new 1967 Ford pickup. Last week, I checked it out, and if I sold another fifty shares, I'd have enough money to buy a 1967 Ford pickup. So, the market has stabilized.

hmmm...I did not read the full version like you did Qatarsun..

but why would US benifit from Georgia's attack to Osetta? and I used to think physics are tough...politcs are way harder !!

with this financial crisis and population rises...I dont think we will be any safer...countries will always rage wars for economic reasons.

I wish Qatar invests in defense systems...:(

this one is interesting:

The Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin believes that the attack against South Ossetia is linked to elections in the United States.

Putin suggested that Republicans in the White House helped to attack Georgia to South Ossetia, in order to raise the rating of the Republican candidate John McCain, who was way behind Democrat Barack Obama.

The only thing is absolutely clear: Georgia WAS involved in the armed conflict with South Ossetia BEFORE Russia enter Georgia. And Georgia desperately wants to restore its power in South Ossetia.

Russia doesn’t want it. Simple.

It’s still not 100% clear who and why started the war in Georgia. Residents of South Ossetia are sure that Georgia started the war against them. On August 7-th, the president of Georgia, Michail Saakashvilli ordered to inflict massive artillery attack and to launch an offensive against South Ossetia to restore power of Georgia in the rebelled republic. Georgians were killing everyone on the streets. “Thanks God, Russian came on time and stopped this slaughter” - residents of South Ossetia say.

People on Russia also say, it was Georgia who invaded South Ossetia in order to restore its power here.

I don’t insist on any version! I just say: sometimes we don't know where and what is the truth.

There are other versions of who and why started this war, as well..

Russia invaded Georgia...why? would Russia do that if the US was still the ultimate super-power? I dont think so....

I am worried China may do the same to Taiwan...

I think the financial world is undergoing a huge metamorphosis right now. Credit will be in short supply for a while. Small Banks and later on countries will go bankrupt.

Essentials, food and fuel, will become expensive for a short while but had better become cheaper in the long term because otherwise World's hungry population will turn to chaos and mayhem for survival.

Have you seen the movie 'Escape from LA'? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0116225/)

That's where I see most of the developed countries heading. Ghetto's for the poor And/Or walled cities for the rich.

Margaret Atwood wrote a book called "Oryx and Crake". I think that's where the World is heading in next few decades.
