Last weekend my family and i went to Barber restaurant located opposit side to JARIR book store for dinner.we have choose family side to sit after making our order a couple came and took the back seat in a corner ;sudenly my son was chocked when he saw them kissing each other in unrespectable way in front of all (kids).after complining to the responsible we changed our table .
So we have to choose where we take our families(kids) carfully in doha now .

Like most people I love romance and I like to show affection to people I love.

I agree with a lot of threads on here; we live in a Country where a lot of Muslim kids are rude, bad mannered, hit the maid driver etc with the parents allowing it and yet two people showing affection is a no-no.

I don't want to go a restaurant either and see two people making out either. A kiss is fine, a peck on the cheek is fine, holding hands, staring into each others eys etc.

A full blown grope is another thing, I would hate to witness that at home.

All I am saying, if it was just a kiss, this is an over reaction. If it was more than I too would be pissed off. My kids see loads of affection but they don't see my partner and I at it like rabbits.

Lol, Mandi, I am no twiggy, and with that said, I also know that I am probably not going to look good wearing a Brittany Spears tour outfit. I guess all the freaking songs about apple bottom jeans and boots with fur got people thinking we want to see that stuff.

Perspective people !!! ____________________________________________________

Eeeeeewwwwww! As the kids say, "thanks for the visual!" Why don't people see themselves as we see them? (age-old philosophical question.) I'm from the state in the US that has the second-highest rate of obesity and I can tell you, I've seen it all. (Not to rag on overweight people - aren't most of us a little too plump - just those who are over-exposed.)

Urgghh Mandi.... today took the cake for me. I was out with the toddlers, saw this chubby gal and her bf.... she was wearing low rise jeans, could see her thong, her love handles all hanging out and her top was low enough to see her sexy fairie tit tattoo. We were having brunch and she was all over this poor guy (who looked a bit embarrased), licking his face and grabbing his bits in the restaurant.

I am sorry, I will take Tom and Jerry pucking the piss out of each other any day over this. _____________________________________________________

I hate to see it as well, and I am a morally loose westerner. Some stuff is to be done in private, even if it is a natural thing. Alot of people find it just as disgusting to see people licking and groping each other in public just as many people will find it disgusting to see people spitting (a very natural thing) on the street.

And another thing.... cover up your loose hanging cellulite. I dont need to see the top of your muffin bulging over the waist of your trousers nor do I need to see your tits to know you have them.

No wonder so many of the kids in this country are screwed in their heads when their parents react in this way to some kissing.

bh.samir, you write that your son was chocked, what was he eating? How old is your son. You should refrain from giving him small hard thing that may choke him.

Yes I think it is disrespectful for people with small kids to see such an affection in public. Good you reminded me also as i do get carried away sometimes too...lol

whatever..here in qatar, kissing in public is a big NO-NO but rowdy kids getting violent against each other in public or ,worst, kids touching your butts and the holier-than-thou a@$%h*&% just look the other way. if that child is so shocked, then it's probably because he did not see his parents being affectionate towards each other. poor child.

I don't think the 'couple' are married. Or they could have done the scene in their home 'entirely for both of them', why choose the restaurant, a public place? Yes, anywhere else in the world the scene is just normal, not only you can see like this in restaurants but, inside the trains, the lifts, hallway stations. But in Qatar, one should respect the country's culture, as some people are not ready to see such display of affection in public.

in a corner of a least crowded restaurant....they selected a wrong (semi public area).

These couplets should be guided properly;

Take it easy samir, this is very rare scene in Qatar.

Actually when I was in Milan i thought it was very romantic that people were in the park kissing

with all the great shopping there it showed that the best things in life are free!

So what nationality were they?

Was in city centre, watching the skating basketball thing with partner and some local teenager in his dish-dash elbows her hard and pushes infront of her.

What are parents teaching these kids!?

By Oryx• 22 Feb 2009 08:21

I like your observation... what do the kids get to watch on telly??? for sure violent stuff..

(I used to hate cartoons when I was little... because of that...except scooby doo!)

and in the shopping malls you can see graphic violent photos of victims in Palestine (which shocked me)

but a kiss and it is demonised...

Well barber is not the most exquiste restaurant in Doha.. It just another cheap Lebaneese fast food out let I guess. Why were there kissing there?.. really buffles the mind. What nationality were they.. That might explain a few things on how different people behave?..

Bashir, today I learnt from your post that there are 2 ways of kissing-respectable and 'unrespectful'..wonder which one causes unplanned pregnancies...

Maybe you should have taught your kids the respectful way of kissing, and instructed them to look away when 'unrespectful' kissing is going on..

or better still, teach them to complain and raise hell as you did..letting everybody know that WE ARE THE VIRTUOUS AND THE MORALLY HIGH, AND NO SIR WE DONT KISS (even when we do , only respectfully )..

With all RESPECT , can I tell you something

GET A LIFE, MY FRIEND..

I guess this kids parents never show affection or love for each other if the child was so shocked! My son loves to kiss- he learned it from mommy and daddy-he is very affectionate and that's a good thing.

or in other words. it has nothing to do with family side or not family side.. like if they were sitting in "single side", it would be OK to kiss?
