Hello..

I am new in this website and I found that is very useful & helpful.

I would like to know is there anyone that can help me out with this. I am trying to get a driving license asap from Doha. As I am still new here, I don't know how to go about to find a driving school and what is the porcedures.

Can someone help me out with this? Is there any school near Najma area as I am staying new there. Also, I am travelling often. Is it al right if I break the driving lessons whenever I want? Or is there a strict rule that you have to complete all the lessons everyday? Or I can choose the timings myself?

I would appreaciate some help here.

Thanks pple +) Smile

Hello,

Can anyone tell me the specifics of the sight test? I'm a little short sighted, not really enough to require glasses, but I'd like to know exactly what to expect in the test. So what exactly are they testing you on, I'm afraid I've got white-coat syndrome......I just don't like doctors!

Thanks all.

Yes, Australian and N.Z can just go in and change licence as long as you can pass the eye test. Approx 100Qr to do it.

Sorry for the late reply. I hope there's still time for you to know this technique. secret for pocket parking.

reverse your car gradually with 1 ruler distance. then when the first pole of the pocket is covered between the back window and the back glass take a full turn to the right. bring down your mirror on your left side enough to see the white line. reverse gradually until the back left wheels is in the middle of the white lines. take a full turn to the left, reverse gradually again then watch the front and back of the car make sure you don't touch any pole. then forward a bit then the car is already inside the pocket. when you are taking the car out of the pocket it doesn't matter how many turns you do. After you passed the pocket parking next is road test.

Road test time they will take you to a residential area.

1. As you sit on the car adjust the chair using your left hand while your right hand is on the stirring wheels.

2. Adjust all the mirror even it's already right for you you still have to adjust all mirrors to let him know you know what you're doing.

3. Put your seat belt on.

4. turn on the indicator to the left before pulling out.

5. move slowly and smoothly then listen what the policeman wants you to do next never forget to indicate whenever he tells you to turn.

6. when he say pull over indicate to the right then stop slowly then put the hand brake on.

I hope this helps! relax! driving is easy when you get used to it. only watch out for the idiots make sure you know where they are. lol!

My experience on Qatar Driving license

1. I had an USA driving license. When I got my RP done in Qatar, went to Traffic department in Garafa, paid QR 150, eye test, and got Qatar driving license for five years. All happened within half an hour. No driving test required.

2. After a month later, I went to Cleopatra Travels and got my International Driving license for QR 200. Please note that, you need Qatar driving license to get International license whose validity was for one year.

So check with Traffic department for conversion purpose. If anybody here is in visit visa, he can convert his license to temporary Qatari license also. No driving test required.

I am sure I could answer some of the questions. Other people surely can fill up the gap.

If you have Saudi license already, you should go to the traffic police in Khalifa and apply for the convertion of your license, but since you're an Asian they may give you a road test if you're lucky like kabayan Bong he just had a road test, still depends if they will fail you. and if you're unlucky they may not accept your Saudi license at all.

Just keep dancing, it will do you good!

I enrolled in Gulf Driving School some time in December. Its a long wait to get the timings best suited to you. Its best to get them done in one stretch, perhaps when you have some training rostered.

As for paying and passing, it honestly does not work. You can pay as little as QR50 to get some extra attention from your instructor but it only increases their appetite. It really depends how you want to go about it.

I heard they are becoming more strict with women drivers and also trying to curb the number of cars on the road.

Don't forget your knowledge of traffic/road signs are just as important as the L, pocket-parking and road test. Best of Luck and Drive safely!

U definately can break ur classes especially if your cabin crew they will take you anytime u show up ... This is for the Gulf driving school though .. i don't know about the other places... I think that would b the easiest for u as ur stayn in najma... hope it goes well....

First all what you need to do is submit an application for driving license. For that

1. first get company's approval letter for you to get a driving license.

2. Fill the application in MUROR, police office located in madinat khalifa, the form must be filled in arabic, so that there are many guys to help you to fill the form just by paying 10-20 Qrs.

3. Make sure you have 3-4 passport size photos ready for affixing in the application, one more thing if you want to take your eye test(taken after filling application) with glass, the you will drive the car with eye glass, so photo must also be taken with glass, if not you can take photos normally.

4. After eye test is over, you can choose any driving school. If you already have driving license from your country, you can show the driving license to MUROR and take approval for 25 days, if not you have to do the complete driving test which is for 45 days.

5. Now the fees, for 25 days 1100 QR. if you are having your country's driving license , 1350 QR. if you are not having your country's license. 1800 for complete 45 days.

6. Apart from this the trainer demands you for teaching almost he will take around 200 QR., but you need to pay in intervals.

7. For 12 days, you have 1 test + 1 Free Test

For 25 days, you have 2 test + 1 Free Test

For 45 days, you have 3 test + 1 Free Test

For applying to each test, you need to pay Qr.50 to the driving school.

8. If you miss all these tests again you need to pay for the course period of atleast 25 days.

9. Choose UNITED DRIVING SCHOOL if you are in NAJMA. There's a van coming to NAJMA HOT BREAD daily which picks you up and drop you at the same place after finishing the driving lesson.

10. During learning its not advisable to break the lessons, its better to finish at one strech because you need to stay in practive, if you loose for a two day, you will forget the tactise and loose your consistency.

11. In driving you have 3 things, IDENTIFYING SIGNALS, SLOPE, PARKING, ROAD TEST when you finish all these you are eligible for the license. Its very easy when you follow your instructor and you can pass within 25 days itself.

12. If you need the best and professional trainer his name is HAMZA 5280624, i passed with him in 25 days itself, teaching was excellent.

Good luck man.

People will tell you things like Ram told u....You can try it all and then come back to join the queue at the Driving schools.

Ram how many people do you know who have passed the test so...?..If it was so then there would be no waiting of 2 months to start the class.

If you pay extra money you could get the class early but not passing the TEST (you can by-pass the waiting but not the training).

List of Driving Schools:

Gulf Driving school ( near airport???)

Al Rayah Driving School (near Al Saad???)

Doha Driving School (near garaffa ???)

Modern Driving School

6 days QR650

25 days 2600

40 days 2850

you can miss (a few) classes in between. The days you attend are counted. But if you are new you will have to complete at least 12 days training in order to sign up for a test.

Never miss the opportuinity to train - It could save your life one day

go to gulf school and pay for them extra money and they will pass u .. but u have to take at leat 12 lessons with them .. if u have a license from ur country .. if not then 25 and will cost u about 1350.. and u can pay about 200 to 300 to the man there n they will be testing u not the muror man...

There is no such thing as ASAP ...

Even if you are a good Car-driver it does not mean you will pass your driving test.

1st you have to know the RULES of the TEST. Which most people do not but assume that they know.

2ndly they need training especially for the "Inside Test" which includes the "L" i.e. climbing the incline & the Pocket-Parking. I wonder if Michale Schumacher could clear it on the 1st attempt.

If you can clear these two then the "Outside Road Test" is relatively easy, but here also you will have to follow the road-safety rules. There are minor things "like checking for neutral" or "shallow kerb parking" or "taking your eyes of the road" which could fail you.

Of you could waive all these off pay QR 50 and sign up for a Test but you will be sure to fail it and you wont know what hit you.

If you ask anybody who doesnt know the rules,- how he failed? He will reply "I dont know?". Thats the least he should have known - "How he had failed".

Before all these you will have to go to the MURUR Traffic Department to check your eye taking along 2 photos (with glasses if you wear glasses) & the sponsers signature on the Driving School form.
