Shiny! Doha Jewellery and Watches Expo Open
Drove past the Qatar Expo Center this evening and it looked very glitzy from the outside. Even the building was sparkling!
Not sure I can afford anything in their but if you love shiny things, it's the place to be!
The Peninsula is reporting on some of the most high end items:
At the Al Fardan pavilion, one of the most expensive items is a ring whose head is crowned with a gigantic 107.46 carat fancy yellow cushion cut diamond. Exclusively crafted by London-based Graff, the ring costs a staggering $12m (QR43.8m).
Another head-turner is a limited Cartier creation — a necklace worth QR45m. The striking necklace studded with 333 diamonds held together by platinum and weighing 158.6 grams is the envy of every woman visiting the Cartier pavilion.
Costing QR3.7m, Montblanc’s Lumiere diamond necklace is truly a work of art with its intricate bead work resulting in a fine piece that can be worn in a number of ways. At the heart of the Lumière diamond necklace is an 11.88 carat Montblanc diamond with 43 facets cut in the unmistakable shape of the Montblanc star. The lengthy chain is made up of 3,000 rare lumiere diamonds.
Prince Dimitri, who is participating in the expo for the first time, has brought an elegant necklace worth $2,150,000 as part of his rare collection, which he designed himself. The necklace is made up of 180-carat diamonds held without using metals.
In watches, one of the most costly is a men’s pocket watch by Vincent Berard whose stand is located at the Blue Salon pavilion. The watch inspired by the old bulky carriage timepieces costs QR7m and is nature-inspired.
